Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 August 2026

1. Who we are

gardeen (“gardeen”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is operated by Muslamica, the team behind the Muslamica app and platform (muslamica.app). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect your personal data when you use the gardeen mobile application (the “App”) and the website at gardeen.app (the “Site”) — together, the “Service”.

For any privacy question or request, contact us at info@muslamica.app. For safety concerns, contact gardeenapp@gmail.com.

2. Scope — one Muslamica account

gardeen uses the shared Muslamica account system. If you sign in to gardeen with your Muslamica account (directly or via Apple or Google), the account data described below is shared between gardeen and Muslamica services, and the Muslamica privacy practices apply to that shared account alongside this policy.

3. Information we collect

Account and profile information.

  • Sign-in details: your name and email address from your Muslamica account, or from Apple or Google if you use Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In (Apple lets you hide your real email address).
  • Profile details you choose to add: display name, username (handle), avatar image, and your written garden introduction.

Worship and garden data. Your dhikr counts (including lifetime totals per phrase), garden levels and progress, streaks, unlocked items, and customization choices (such as your selected butterfly, grass, sky and sounds). Counts made offline are stored on your device and synced to your account when you reconnect.

Content you upload. Your avatar image, your garden introduction text, and — if you use the Premium custom-sound feature — audio files you choose to upload.

Payment and donation information. Payments for Premium and donations are processed by Stripe (via muslamica.app) or by Apple / Google if you purchase through an app store. We receive confirmation of your purchase, subscription status and donation amounts — we never receive or store your full card details.

Device and usage data. Device type and operating system, app version, language, IP address, crash reports and diagnostic logs, and basic usage events that help us keep the Service reliable and secure.

Approximate location (optional). Only if you enable the “Local sky” feature, we use your device location (with your permission) to show real day-night and weather conditions in your garden. You can turn this off at any time in your device settings; the App works fully without it.

Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a push token so we can send optional dhikr reminders. You control these in the App’s settings and your device settings.

Communications. If you contact us, we keep the correspondence so we can help you and improve support.

4. How we use your information

  • To provide the Service: authenticate you, save and sync your dhikr counts and garden across devices, and restore your progress.
  • To power community features: leaderboards, visiting and helping gardens, and helper lists.
  • To send optional reminders and service notifications you have enabled.
  • To process Premium subscriptions and donations, and to grant the features or recognition attached to them.
  • To keep the Service safe: prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms, and moderate reported content.
  • To fix bugs, understand aggregate usage, and improve the App and Site.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not show third-party advertising in gardeen.

Where UK GDPR / GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (providing the Service you signed up for), consent (optional features like location and notifications, which you can withdraw at any time), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention and service improvement), and legal obligation (e.g. payment records).

6. What other users can see

gardeen has community features, so some information is visible to other users by design:

  • Your display name, username and avatar.
  • Your garden — its level, progress, customizations and your garden introduction — when other users visit it.
  • Your name, avatar, dhikr counts and ranking on the global leaderboard. To power this, your dhikr counts are uploaded to our servers and shown publicly to other gardeners worldwide (and, if you enable location, ranked by your city and country). The global leaderboard is a core part of gardeen and applies to every account; if you do not want your dhikr counts published this way, please do not create an account or use the App.
  • Your name in the helper list of gardens you have helped grow.

Please do not put personal information you want kept private (such as contact details) in your public profile or garden introduction.

7. Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers that run the Service, under contracts that limit how they can use it:

  • Google Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, cloud functions and push notifications.
  • Apple and Google — sign-in, and app-store billing where you purchase through them.
  • Stripe — payment and donation processing.
  • RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management.
  • Algolia — user search (so gardeners can find each other by name or username).
  • Amazon Web Services (CloudFront) — hosting and delivery of media content.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of users, or as part of a business transfer (in which case this policy will continue to apply to your data).

8. Cookies and website storage

The Site uses no advertising or third-party tracking cookies. We use local storage on your device only for functional preferences — for example, remembering your light/dark theme choice. Signing in on muslamica.app uses cookies necessary for authentication.

9. How long we keep data

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile, garden data and dhikr counts are deleted from our production systems, after which residual copies are removed from backups in the normal cycle. We may retain limited records where the law requires it (for example, payment and donation records for tax and accounting) and anonymised, aggregated statistics that no longer identify you.

10. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access to production systems is restricted, and we use the security controls of the providers listed above. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password for your Muslamica account and keep your sign-in method protected.

11. International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the providers’ standard contractual clauses and equivalent mechanisms.

12. Children

gardeen is not directed at children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us at info@muslamica.app and we will delete it.

13. Your rights and choices

  • Access, correction and deletion. You can edit your profile in the App, and permanently delete your account (and the data in it) from Settings → Account control → Delete account, or by emailing us.
  • Notifications. Turn reminders off in the App’s settings or your device settings at any time.
  • Location. Revoke location permission in your device settings at any time; the App continues to work without it.
  • UK / EU rights. Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, you also have the rights to data portability, to restrict or object to processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data-protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).

To exercise any right, email info@muslamica.app. We will respond within the timescales required by applicable law.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or Site before they take effect. The “Last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
